"Gorgeous hotel in a beautiful and historic riverfront part of town"

Main Street in St Charles is a treasure. Red brick buildings line the cobblestone street which runs close to the Missouri River. If you are heading to the St Louis area, stay on Main Street. Lucky for families, the Country Inns and Suites is both family friendly and located on this lovely street.

The exterior is gorgeous with red brick and a stately feel. The inside is beautifully appointed, reflecting the overall feel that Main Street gives it’s visitors.  Enjoy the aesthetics of the lobby and check a book out of the Read it and Return library or read your complimentary USA Today by the fire.

As with every Country Inn, this one served complimentary breakfast (and free homemade cookies!!!) which is a huge perk when traveling with children. They can eat their bowl of cereal from the comfort of the room while watching cartoons or down in the breakfast room with the other guests.  There are plenty of great dining options down Main Street as well.

What kid doesn’t want to swim in a pool when they stay at a hotel? This Country Inn has an indoor pool which is great for when its too cold outside or thunder is crashing (as it was while we were there).  There is also a fitness center for all you crazy people who like to exercise while on vacation.

We stayed in a standard room which suited our family of four just fine. It was very nicely furnished but I think next time we opt to spread out and get a suite. As with every Country Inn I have stayed at, the beds were incredibly comfortable. Cribs are available upon request. Another great feature of this property is that it is an entirely non-smoking property. I HATE to get into my room and be stifled by the smell of stale cigarette smoke. I certainly don't want to subject my children to that either.

The free high speed internet was a HUGE PLUS for me since I am a travel writer and the internet is my lifeline. Nothing bugs me more than a fancy hotel that charges $20 for internet. Wireless internet is always complimentary for guests at Country Inns and Suites properties.  

Overall I give this hotel 5 stars as a family friendly hotel because it really does fit the needs of the average family extremely well and does it with friendly staff and quality amenities. If you are staying in the St Louis area, definitely consider this hotel.
