Circus Circus, especially the midway, has been touted as a must-see destination for families in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, this hotel, with its filthy and crowded arcades and glaringly bright, badly ventilated casino, is barely tolerable to discerning children, and even less so to adults. The arcade games are dated, and coated with layers of grime. If anything were to drop on the crusty carpets, it should probably be handled by a haz-mat crew. Playing arcade games at Circus Circus for an hour will cost you more than comparable numbers of table games downstairs at the casino, but what price can you place on your children's happiness?
However, my son still sleeps with the cheap (but soft) stuffed bunny he won in one of the virtual horse-racing games there, and so perhaps, despite the grim experience, it was worth the visit after all.
The Circus Circus Hotel & Casino is fun for all ages. While mom & dad can play upstairs in the Casino...here the kids have a play area as well. In the lower level is a kid friendly circus atmosphere full of games, sideshows, junk foods, and a variety of entertainment. If your looking for a hotel to accomodate the interests of kids & parents alike...this ones for you.
This hotel in the middle of an adult city seems to have it all: A HUGE arcade, a MASSIVE indoor attached amusement park, plenty of kid friendly dining, and more.
However, this place has become one of the sleaziest, scariest places on the strip in Las Vegas. It appears that most parents just let their kids run around while they take care of their gambling fix and the result is a large amount of unsupervised teens and pre-teens with attitudes and hormones. I was scared to have my 5-year-old and 4-year-old walk through parts of this hotel with me. Older kids would probably love the freedom if you are inclined, but I would recommend keeping a good watch on them.
This casino is old and ugly, but it is SOOOO much fun! They have an awesome arcade area with circus acts ever 15 minutes, a yummy buffet, and a FUN new adventuredome with roller coasters and other rides. I loved it as a kid, and it's only gotten better! It's even cheap, to boot!
Obviously the casino is no place for kids but Circus Circus does have a section of the hotel casino specifically for children. I believe it's called the midway and it's a place that has games for the kids to play and also has a live circus act every 15 minutes or so. The circus act when we went (without kids) wasn't very great, not to say it was bad but just not great. The games seemed alright and would probably entertain the kids while parents were busy gambling.
We didn't make a trip to the Adventuredome where the rides are but I hear mixed reviews about it. Overall I'd skip the midway and stuff unless you're in the area and want a way to entertain the kids.
Now back when I was a kid this was like heaven! Over the years this is not such a safe place to take the family. I highly recommend staying somewhere else. We were walking up to the hotel to go in and spend some time and all of sudden security was running out to the door and blocking th enternace, several police and an ambulance pulled up. We finnally were able to ask someone what had happened and they said "Another Gang Shooting" of course I was upset by the fact that there was a shooting at all but what was even more scary was they said another. Please be aware althought he place looks like a circus it may not a good choice for the kids. Excalibur is still very nice and even better would the M off of the strip they have a very nice pool and the kids would enjoy themselves.
circus circus is one of the oldest hotels on the strip. It is at the far end of the strip, near sahara, riviera and stratosphere. the great thing is that the hotel was recently redone. we read trip advisor before we went and requested a tower room. we didn't go the the pool because it required walking outside. we were comped passes to the indoor amusement park but instead opted for roller coasters in both NYNY and Sahara. We also rode to the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris. there are tons of free shows and things to do. my faves were the penguins and flamingos down at tropicana. also, we bought a 3 day pass for $15 per person to ride unlimited on the deuce, a double decker air conditioned bus. getting on at circus circus was great because it wasn't crowded. across the street in the food court at riviera, we found eggs bacon and toast for $2.22. We rode the deuce to downtown(old vegas) and had cheap good meals, great drinks, fried twinkies and cool free shows. we got beads at mermaids. our flight from philly to las vegas during the day, no red eye plus 5 days at our hotel was $270. we went in april towards the end of the month and it was around 90 in the day but beautiful at night around 70. There were people promoting pornography if you walked up and down the strip. Also when traveling with kids, if they can stand being in the car, there are several daytrip destinations close by they might enjoy.
We were looking for a place to eat with the children and we decided to go to the Circus Circus (sounded kid friendly) and try their buffet.
The three stars is a mix of 5 stars from the kids and 0 stars from the parents.
My daughters had never been to a buffet before and could not believe that they could have as much pasta and bland food as they wanted. And I am not even talking about the ice-cream.
My husband and I did not care for the food at all.
After our lunch, we went to various areas of the Circus Circus, it looked old and in need of a renovation.
The ladies at the Wedding Chapelle were very nice and let us visit the premises and explained to us French how a Las Vegas wedding is organized.
We finished with the area with the games and left with a happy child with good throwing skills who won a bear and a crying child with bad throwing skills who did not win anything.
We stayed here on a business trip with my husband in 2003 with a toddler and newborn. Here is why I gave this a decent rating:
--stroller and double stroller rental
--short walk to major attractions
--restaurant in building
--casino in building isn't overwhelming
--staff was very helpful to us
--nothing special though because the room itself did smell a bit smoky and the windows didn't open
--overall okay b/c of the low cost and good service
Circus Circus is not our favorite place to stay in Vegas. The rooms are a little older and outdated and it is usually VERY, VERY crowded.
What we prefer to do is come to the hotel for an afternoon of game playing on their concourse and take advantage of the inside amusement park. After a few hours of fun, the entire family is ready for a break from the noise.
The live Circus Acts that perform in the middle of the hotel are impressive and worth hanging around for.
Rooms are fairly cheap, but the place is also fairly old. But a great place to take the kids to enjoy Adventuredome, that includes many kiddie rides and a few thriller rides. There's also another area free of charge but has carnival games, that we all know can get costly if you don't have certain throwing coin skills. But there are free shows, like clowns and acrobatics, which can also be entertaining.
probably one of the more kid-friendly major casino/hotels in las vegas, but it's starting to show its age -- some of the areas we walked through on the way to and from our room seemed to be 'backstage' areas, not decorated or polished for the public, and some rough edges showed elsewhere, as well. but, the room prices were reasonable, and there was quite a bit to see and do for my kiddo at circus circus, including fair-type games, mini-circus exhibits, and a quite nice set of shops to explore. all in all, i'm glad we stayed there.
