"Beautiful Boca Beach Club "

Pros:  Amazing beach front location, newly renovated, top-notch dining, loads of outdoor activities for families of all ages and sizes.  Please read my full review for more details.

Cons:  Shuttle service is available to help avoid the long walk to nearby city attractions.  During the winter season, rates might be out of some families vacation budget.  However, there are many wonderful discounted packages available throughout the year.  Visit the Boca Resort website for the latest rate and reservation details.

After a few travel delays including driving through an intense Florida thunderstorm, our three-night weekend getaway seemed to be off to a soggy start.  As we drove up the secluded resort entryway, we were thrilled when we finally arrived at the Boca Beach Club.  We were warmly greeted at the guard gate and it seemed that as the guard raised the security gate, the rains lifted and the sun peeked out from behind the clouds.  What an ideal way to start a family beach vacation with our energetic four year old!   The valet crew and bellmen worked well together and took care of our car and luggage so we could dive into our vacation plans just as soon as we handed over our car keys for the weekend.  From the very first encounter with the Boca Beach Club staff, we were impressed by their warmth, professionalism and their family friendly attitudes.

We could not imagine how quickly we would relax once we arrived at this amazing resort.  Nestled along a warm sandy beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this impressive contemporary resort offers incredible beach views as soon as you step through the sleek, modern front doors.  Our daughter ran to look at the infinity pool which leads your eye right out into the Atlantic Ocean and clear, blue skies.  We were offered a refreshing fruit drink and easily checked in for our stay.  On the way to our room, our friendly and informative Bell Captain, Ephram, told us that the Boca Beach Club recently underwent an extensive renovation and it shows.  Everything seems fresh, new and bathed in natural light.  There are wonderful abstract paintings and sculptures throughout the resort.  Our daughter liked the main sculpture in the lobby and saw a new shape in it every day.  The use of subtle colors and sleek design elements allows the natural beauty of the beach to take center stage.  Our fourth floor suite, which included a spacious bedroom and adjoining living room, had dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean framed by palm trees.  Ephram walked us through the many hotel features and in room goodies such as the incredible view, an i-Pod docking station, Wi-Fi connectivity, climate controls, in room safe, the resort television stations, business center and 24-hour room service availability, a fully-stocked mini bar, luxurious bathrobes, and black out curtains for those all important afternoon siestas or early morning sleep in dreams.  Those curtains really did block out the Florida sunshine but we opted to keep the curtains open when we were in the room.  We could not resist that view!  The staff graciously prepared for our arrival by having a comfy crib for our little one which came with a fully stocked child’s toiletry kit complete with a yellow rubber ducky in a clear, zippered rubber ducky travel bag.  In addition, there was a generous welcome basket for the adults as well as a kid-sized welcome basket filled with beach-themed treats just for her.  The king-sized bed was so comfortable that it was hard to get going in the morning but the lure of so many resort activities got us out of bed earlier than our usual at home routine.

The Boca Beach Club has three pools on site and all of them overlook the beach.  One pool is just for adults, one oval shaped pool for families and a zero-entry wading pool with a maximum depth of about three and a half feet for the little ones.  We especially liked the zero-entry pool.  Around each of these pools, there are plenty of very comfortable and stylish lounge chairs either in the sun or shade, whichever you prefer. You might have trouble finding a towel the first time you go to the pool but once you know where to look, they are easy to find.  There's also several water stands with disposable cups and restrooms are nearby for those emergency dashes with your children.  We were thankful that there are child safe gates on the four boardwalks that lead to the resort's private stretch of beach.  Parents can rest a bit easy since they have beautifully landscaped the area between the beach and pool areas which does limit access to the beach except by those four gated boardwalks.  Once on the beach, you can fly kites, build sand castles, play beach tennis or volleyball, relax in lounge chairs or splash in the surf.  There's usually a lifeguard on duty but keep close to your children because the undertow can be very strong and easily sweeps little one's off their feet.  You can even order lunch to be delivered to you beach or poolside.  What a treat!

For our meals, we started and ended our day at the SeaGrille restaurant which is located just off of the lobby.  The breakfast buffet offers everything from custom omelet to regional fresh fruit parfaits and so much more.  Our daughter had no trouble trying new foods as well as finding comfortable favorites on the buffet.  We enjoyed the extensive assortment and tried to sample a bit of everything.  For dinner, we feasted on local seafood specialties with tasty homemade tropical sauces.  The simple yet elegant presentation is quite memorable and everything tasted fresh, original and definitely worthy of the price.  They offer a children's menu with a variety of standard favorites as well as some smaller plates of their seafood specialties for those children with more adventurous palettes.  Our daughter loved trying the new fish dishes and especially liked the cobia, a local Florida fish.  The staff brought a unique self stick coloring placemat and was more than willing to meet any special request made by our and other families we met during our stay.

For lunch, we ate poolside at the Beaches Restaurant and Bar.  We tried the signature dish, the Singapore Chop Chop salad which is shaken in an oversized, clear martini shaker and served in a unique bento style box.  It tasted even better than the show!  Our daughter was delighted when her sandwich and sides were served in a souvenir sand pail complete with a shovel which she promptly put to good use as soon as we went to the beach after lunch.  Unfortunately, due to the excitement of the sand pail and shovel, she spilled her lemonade on the table.   Be careful with those drink lids and be prepared with extra napkins!

One afternoon, our daughter participated in the Camp Boca program while we enjoyed a visit to the spa.  Camp Boca kids, available to children from ages 3-13+, all wear a bright yellow camp t-shirt and are divided into four age groups.  Our “Boca Tot” played with age-specific toys in a very clean, colorful play area designed just for the interests of any 3-5 year old child.  They changed into their swimsuits to play in the zero-entry pool and then came back to play dress up in a variety of costumes, made several craft projects and even got to help bake chocolate chip cookies for their parents.  The staff was very well trained, interacted well with the children and parents, and really got the children engaged in the activities.  Our daughter wanted to come back again another day!

We had the chance to take a tiny tots tennis class which included about ten 3-5 year old children.  The drills were fun, well suited to their ages and abilities and lasted a little over an hour.  The kids seemed to have a great time and learned some foundation skills for their budding tennis talents.  The 30 clay courts are in excellent condition.

The resort offers many wonderful packages which include discounts on spa, golf and tennis as well as other added bonuses.  If your family is ready to escape to an idyllic beach front resort, this life size sand castle would be an ideal fit for any size family.

"This review is based on a complimentary stay at the Boca Beach Club.  I received no other compensation besides the hotel stay and the hotel did not state any requirements that I express a particular point of view."
