Best Western Gateway Grand

"Decent hotel, a bit overpriced"

We stayed at the Best Western Gateway Grand for 3 nights recently. It does claim to have a lot of suites but we didn't stay in one. We stayed in a regular room and got a reduced rate. I think the advertised price is way overpriced for the hotel, but if you can get a deal it's ok.

This hotel accepts pets. There is a flat $20 per night charge no matter how many pets you have. I believe there is also a hefty cleaning fee if your pet leaves any messes. There were quite a few dogs staying while we were there but we never heard any.

The hotel is right off I-75. I could hear cars occasionally but nothing that would disrupt my sleep. However, the A/C unit that would kick on for a minute or two every hour woke us all up every night. There is a digital thermostat, but the lack of central air was disappointing.

The bathroom is very small but functional. It did have a full sized tub and you could sit on the toilet and reach the tub if needing to bath little ones. The beds were comfortable. There were two different pillows on the bed in terms of firmness which I really appreciated. The blankets were thin (as were the towels) and there weren't any extras in the room. They do supply toiletries but there was no conditioner to be found.

Included with our stay was a breakfast buffet. There was a variety of foods, some of which were frozen that you would have to heat up in their microwave. This caused congestion at times, but most people were patient. There also was a waffle iron and a toaster for bagels, toast or english muffins. Fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, coffee, and juice were also provided. We left with full bellies every morning.

There is a small pool and hot tub outside but the weather wasn't conducive to trying those out. There was also a small business center with about 4 computers. There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel with no access codes needed.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Parking was never a problem. It is also a conference center. The majority of other guests seemed to be on business. There was only one other young family. If you're traveling with a pet on I-75 and need a place to stay, it's not a bad place to get some rest. There are also quite a few restaurants nearby, from fast food to fine dining. Gas stations and a grocery store are also just minutes away. It's a very convenient location.
