Don’t judge a book by its cover.  Likewise, don’t judge a motel by its exterior.  This is an ugly old hotel on the outside.  However, updates like new carpet, beds and fixtures have made this motel inside quite nice.  

My family stayed in this Best Western hotel for a few nights while attending a family reunion nearby.  There are not many lodging options in this town so we took our chances and booked a stay.  Rates were very reasonable compared to other lodging in the area.  I was drawn to the complimentary hot breakfast and the outdoor and indoor swimming pool, something I knew my kids would enjoy.  We booked a 2 queen non-smoking room.  Once we checked in, I immediately noticed the smell of smoke in the common stairway areas of the hotel, making me nervous that our room would also smell of smoke.  I was pleasantly surprised that the room was clean and smelled clean as well.  

Staff was very accommodating at this Best Western.  The maids  accommodated our crazy schedule, returning whenever we were away.  In fact, one of the maids left my kids a cute little toy on our bed as a little surprise when we returned.

Kiddos had a lot of fun in the outdoor pool area.  One complaint though – no entrance stairs, only a ladder at the deeper end instead of the shallow end of the pool.  The fitness room was small but had some nice equipment, treadmill, bike, weights and elliptical equipment. Breakfast was better than average with eggs and meat provided by the in house restaurant (instead of those disgusting microwave eggs at some hotels). The hotel also provided fruit (apples and oranges), yogurt and plenty of cereal choices.

This hotel is a good choice for families.  Just don’t judge its exterior.  The rooms are actually pretty nice and comfortable.
