"Diversion, but not a Must-see"

While on vacation in Mashpee, we took a road trip over to West Yarmouth. For young children that are easily impressed, it was fine, but it definitely doesn't compare to the Mystic Aquarium.  If you need something to kill an hour this is good.  I would not make a trip over to see it.

"Fun with the Family"

Not overwhelming in size, the Zooquarium is an eclectic mix of native wildlife and rare-breed farm animals. The zoo adopts animals (placed by agencies) that were injured and rehabilitated but can no longer be reintroduced into the wild.
Some of the rare-breed farm animals that are maintained by the zoo are Irish Dexter cattle and baby-doll and Icelandic sheep. At the Zoo Theater, a daily Zoo-rific Adventure or Farm Follies can cover anything from cockroaches to bobcats—it’s very handson;
your family is allowed not only to see and learn but also to touch the animal that is being presented.
A Touch Pool of marine and aquatic animals and fish also allows one-on-one interaction and greater understanding of the world around us. At the Children’s Discovery Center, kids can find out how zookeepers prepare the animals’ diets.
For some reason the Scoop on Poop exhibit is very popular with little boys. The boys seem to find it very amusing when they find out these littleknown facts:
• Llamas have a communal dung pile.
• Sea lions’ poop is very greasy because they eat a lot of fish.
• A mouse’s skeletal structure can be re-created from an owl’s pellets because owls don’t digest bones.
• Early settlers’ diets were discovered from the privies dug up by the Big Dig in Boston.
A nice outing for the whole family; set aside two to three hours to explore the Zooquarium.

"Good for a rainy day"

This is a great place when it rains during a Cape vacation and you need to take the kids out of the house or hotel.  Cool aquarium mixed with larger animals outside.
