"Lots of animals to see!"

Great place for us to get up close & personal with some animals! I loved feeding the multitudes of bunnies & guinea pigs from the $2 baskets of cut veggies- so much personality in those little animals! With the veggies you could also feed the goats, who are pretty aggressive- don’t let your toddler hold the food, cause they might get knocked over! My 4-yr-old daughter’s highlight was riding a horse (a big one!)- there was a big horse & smaller pony to ride when we went, led on a path around the farm. There was also a tiny train there to ride, a cow, some llamas, and emu & some fancy birds. The kids also had fun playing at the little playground on site.

"Zoomars"

Zoomars is a great place to go with the kiddos. A couple of fair warnings would be to stay AWAY when its hot, go potty at the park behind Zoomars if you like plumbing and those goats can spray pee. The bunnies and guinea pig area is so much fun and the pony ride and train are totally worth the extra couple dollars. Our good friends had their sons 2nd birthday here and it was a great party, all of the kids loved it!
A previous reviewer mentioned that Ramos House was up the street but please be warned that is NOT a kid friendly place to eat at all. We had a few bad experiences of being treated extremely poorly and finally learned our lesson that no kids are welcome here. I know we should have learned our lesson the first time but circumstances found us there again only to have the owner be rude and ugly to us. I guess having no high chairs, boosters, or a kids menu is their way of letting people know this but if you dont get the hint, they are downright nasty.

"What a find!"

We stumbled across this petting zoo while in San Juan Capistrano and enjoyed everything it had to offer, including the typical petting zoo animals as well as exotic birds and llama. There is also a little train (adults can ride it too) and pony rides. It's very affordable for an afternoon of fun.

Update 5/2011: We just hosted a birthday party here and all the guests (kids and parents alike) had a blast! The petting zoo critters, ponies and horses, train and playground kept the kids entertained for our 3-hour event. The staff was very accommodating, as it was raining at the beginning of our party so they moved us to an "indoor" location and everything went off without a hitch. As another reviewer had stated, one potential drawback was that there are only porta-potties available. Also, the grill that we used took a long time in order to cook the food. Other than that, I highly recommend this place for a visit or to host a special event at a reasonable price.

"A great little petting zoo in a historical setting"

We visited Zoomars for the first time this winter and we are hooked. Its a great petting zoo filled with goats, pigs, sheep, horses, chicken, exotic birds, llamas, an emu, a cow, ducks,. bunnies and guinea pigs. Pur favorite is the bunny and guinea pig pen where you can go in and pet tons and tons of little furry animals.  For a small fee you can buy fresh veggies to feed the animals which is always a treat. There is a little train on site and pony rides as well. There is a small playground area that is alot of fun for kids and a nice picnic area where they host birthday parties. The petting zoo is located across the street from the train station so it would be a great little day trip on the train. We loved this family owned place.

"Low Key but Fun for small children"

This is such a great find! It has everything, from small pets to hand feed (guinea pigs, rabbits and goats) to ponies to ride, a train.

My daughter was 3 when we went and she had such a wonderful time. Parents and caregivers can sit back and watch or do some feeding themselves.

Zoomers isn't too pricey either.

And after few hours there, a terrific restaurant is down the street--Ramos House Cafe.

"Fun for all ages!"

This hole-in-the-wall operation is a great place to spend an afternoon or host your child's birthday party.

To get there, park in the parking garage at the San Juan Capistrano rail station. Cross the tracks, then continue straight, heading down the street that looks blocked off (it is to cars, but pedestrians can skirt the metal "fence"). The petting zoo is ahead on the right. (See their website for specific directions.) You'll have some options once you're inside--ride the train? ride the pony? Feed the animals? Play in the rabbit and guinea pig pen? Or play on the great jungle gym?

Most of the animals are typical farm animals--goats, rabbits, geese, cows, pigs--but there are some beautiful exotic birds, ostriches, and llamas as well. My 3-year-old and 1-year-old both had a blast. Be sure to dress for mess--not from the animals, but from the dust and dirt.
