""Funky" playground for all kids"

Named after a young girl with a prosthetic leg who had her life brutally cut short, the Zahra Baker All Children's Playground has equipment for children with disabilities.  The official opening of the playground was May 19, 2012.   One of the first things my girls wanted to do ahere was go down the "huge" slide.  This slide zig-zags down a hill and is accessed by a pathway that would easily accomodate a wheelchair.  The park also has a wheelchair only swing, two large swings with safety harnesses and two regular swings.  There are two "diggers" - one with a seat and one without - for kids to dig in the sand.   Most of the playground floor is a soft mat.  One of my daughters said the playground has a "funky" feel to it.  Kids can climb, swing, slide and even do a scavenger hunt.  There are plenty of benches throughout the playground area.  It's a beautiful playground and may become our new favorite.

The only downside is the restrooms.  While there are facilities nearby, they require a bit of a walk and were not clean.  Since the playground has only officially been open for 2 weeks,  there may be additional plans that include improved restrooms.
