Local mall with two fun playareas for kids. The Treehouse Adventure Play Area for kids 42" and under. Shoes are not allowed, but socks are required. Also, checkout the Yorktown Express Train. 1 ride for $1 or 6 tickets for $5.
We love Yorktown center. It's wonderful, nice atmosphere, indoor center. Nice thing about it is the caribou coffee center. Loved so nice from far away we couldn't avoid purchasing it. We loved Yorktown because it's 2 floor town. We found very interesting for our little cousins. We loved their food court, we thought food price was really good too. We had no trouble finding parking on saturday afternoon. It was just enough crowd but not too crowded.

In an area with many cold winter months, it's nice to be able to take the little ones to an indoor play area to get some energy out. And, there are some good stores nearby to get some shopping done while you're there. The Caribou Coffee in the middle of the mall and the food court are great places to stop for a little refreshment if you like.
This brightly lit, two-level indoor mall has wide walkways and an open central area where youngsters can ride a three-car choo-choo around a circular track. The train ride is part of the enclosed Treehouse Adventure Play Area, which has a tall artificial tree and colorful plastic tot-size houses to play in.
We used to frequent this treehouse play area alot more. I think we've gone too much and now we needed a break. It's a great space for indoor playtime. There's a big slide, treehouse, little mini house on the ground, and a choochoo train that your kids can ride for a buck. Remember to bring your socks since they need to take their shoes off while playing. There is also a Caribou Coffee stand a few 100 yards away that you can always stop at before or after if you need a jolt.
I'm always looking for the free things to do with kids in bad weather. The treehouse at Yorktown mall is pretty good. Nice area for the kids to play in but when it gets crowded it can be a little nutty. There is also a train the kids can ride for i think $1 and the kids seem to enjoy it. The kids do have to wear socks but if you forget them you can buy a pair for $1 at the info desk. The nearest bathroom is in Carsons but i would recommend going to the one in Von Mauer instead it is located on the same floor at the back of the store and has better accomodations.
