We enjoyed our visit which included a very crazy, bumpy bus ride out to the dig site. Our guide was very entertaining. The museum is quite small, but there were things that we had never seen before and we took some neat pictures. Extra money is needed for the gift shop which has some beautiful fossils. I am back in Texas and kicking myself for not buying anything!
We spent the night in Thermopolis on our way to Yellowstone. There were 4 kids with us 7,6,4,2 and they all loved it. The dinosaur exhibits were all up close and they got a kick out of the HUGE skeleton. We spent the extra cash and took the dig site tour. The school bud ride on the bumpy rode was a hit with the kids, a little less d for the adults :) The tour was better for the older kids, the younger ones lost interest about 1/2 way through. We would do it again and recommend it to friends.
We stopped here on our way from Cody, WY to Casper, WY. It was right about the middle of our trip and was a good stopping point for a break. The center is located in Thermopolis, which is also known for its hot springs. It is not right off of the highway but it only took us a few minutes to get there. The center is still completing archeological digs and finding dinos in the land. For a few extra dollars you can take a bus tour out to one of the dig sites. We decided not to do this because time was limited. It only takes about 30m to wander through the exhibits. There is also a very small café with a couple of hands on activities for the toddlers. Teens probably will not be entertained here unless they are into dinosaurs but it was a good break for our 2 and 4yo!
