I am no expert on Ice skating rinks but this place was not great. It was however just what we were looking for.
Came here last Saturday. Family visiting from out of town and they wanted to do some cool holiday type stuff. I look around and what-do-ya-know: someone built a temporary Ice rink in the parking lot over by the Promenade.
Obviously you could probably find a larger skating surface at a regular ice rink but I had never ice skated outdoors before. It made it feel a lot more like Christmas. There were not even close to enough lockers to store your stuff but we parked close so I just walked our shoes back to the car. It was busy but not as bad as I expected. And I really wish they had made everyone reverse direction after the Zamboni did it's thing. After making continual left turns over and over my right leg was getting tired. (I am out of shape)
The only things I was really upset about were the little kids. More than half the kids there, (and some of the adults!) were "skating" with these stupid PVC pipe things. Imagine skating with a senior citizens walker. I guess this was meant to help them skate; all I know is that they were using them to plow into everyone as hard as they could. I wanted to throw this little 70 lb. kid out of the rink and into the parking lot!
But over all it was cool, the prices were good, and they were open late!
