Owned by the city of Salem, this hidden gem features the remains of Historic Fort Pickering and a working lighthouse, Fort Pickering Lighthouse. Unique to most city parks, there is camping with fifty-seven RV and tent sites, a picnic area, and a shower house. Bring your boat (there is a boat launch), cruise around Salem Harbor, and head to the Rockmore Floating Restaurant (see “Whatever Floats Your Boat”, page 90). If you wish to leave your vehicle, the Salem Trolley services the park in the sumer. The Blues Festival in July and A Taste of the North Shore take place every sumer. Call for the schedule.
