The fun never ends at the Wilderness Territory. With nearly 250,000 sq. ft. of indoor waterparks and over 250,000 square feet of outdoor waterparks the Wilderness has over 12 football fields of water fun to explore. The waterparks and miniature golf courses are reserved exclusively for resort guests; however, Wild Rock Golf Course and The Woods Family Golf Course are open to public play.
My family has been to several of the waterpark resorts in the Dells, but the Wilderness is by far our favorite. There is so much to see and do both inside and outside whether you want to get wet or stay dry. One of our favorites is the huge indoor wave pool, but the indoor playground is fun too.
We had a really great time at the Wilderness Waterpark. We spent 2 nights there and really didn't want to leave. They have more than on indoor waterpark to go to on the grounds so you don't feel like you are doing or going to the same thing all the time. great pottery shop too. We all picked out pieces that we painted and got them the next day after they were fired. Awesome keepsake!
My husband and I went with our almost 2-year-old son, my husband's sister, and her husband. We went in September after the tourist season is over, which made it a lot less crowded, but also meant the outdoor parks were all closed. There were 3 indoor parks that we could go to and not pay extra. The one has a slide and a wave pool, along with a shallow area for little ones. They also have lifejackets in case you want to take a younger child in the deeper areas with you. Another place has a few slides, a cone, a big activity area (little kids could play here), and a lazy river. The lazy river has rafts that you can get that only have one hold instead of 2, so you can set a child in the other part. Our son liked that part a lot. The third place was only open certain days so we couldn't go to it.
There are also indoor activities here like mini golf, arcades, and a big enclosure that you can crawl through/in.
We had more than enough to keep us busy even though many things were closed due to it being the "off season".
My family goes here every November. I like going in the winter or late fall because there are no huge crowds and getting around town is easy. The hotel is always busy but we never feel too crowded. This place has tons of fun stuff for kids. You can spend the weekend here and never leave the hotel. They have great restaurants and bars in the hotel. Food is expensive here but you can always bring your own groceries as the rooms have refridgerators. The rooms are big and comfortable.
Wilderness resort and waterpark is by far the best resort in the Dells area! There are so many different things to do that you don't need to leave the property to have fun! Best choice in waterparks, lots of dry activities, very good rates. My only complaint about the Wilderness resort is the food, the prices are very high and quality is not the best, you are much better off leaving the hotel to grab a bite to eat.
I think this is a very classy place for all ages. In the summer is the best time to go since the outdoor waterparks are open, when are good for all ages..but mostly older children. In the winter, you are still able to go to the indoor water park and the rooms are less exspensive in the winter as well. Overall....clean, well-kept and nice for the price!
My family and another family shared a 3 bedroom condo in the Wilderness Resort for 5 days and had an absolute blast! There was a lot of other activities but we only left the resort 2 of the 5 days. We rode a duck, went horseback riding and shopping. This was one of the best family vacations. We call it the Gatlinburg of the North.
