Located in the heart of downtown Seattle, Westlake Center has 4 stories of retail filled with shops, restaurants and more.
Westlake Center is a nice, small shopping mall, located right in the center of downtown, just a few blocks from Pike Place Market. The monorail runs from here to Seattle Center, so if you're going to be on the monorail, you will pass through here! There aren't a huge number of shops at Westlake, but there's a pretty good variety. Some clothing stores, some gift stores, jewelry stores, things like that. If you're searching for a nice souvenir to take home with you, there's a Made in Washington store at this mall that's always a good place to look. Another really great store is Fireworks, which contains some of the most unusual and beautiful things that you never knew you needed!
The top floor has a nice food court with a great variety of food options, and generally enough seating for everyone, although it does get crowded on work days at lunch, when all the nearby office workers head here. There is also outdoor seating when the weather is nice.
My kids and I love to eat in this food court and wave at the people arriving or leaving on the monorail- always fun to watch!
The main way from floor to floor is the escalator, but if you have a stroller, there are some elevators. The elevators are a little slow and if there are lots of people with strollers or wheelchairs in the mall, you may have a bit of a wait.
If you're in the center of Seattle and are looking for a shopping/meal break, I suggest dropping by Westlake Center!
The end (and the beginning in some instances) of the monorail ride from the Seattle Center (Space needle). The monorail station is on the top floor. The mall has all the stores you would expect at a mall (victoria secret, motherhood maternity, etc) but it is rather small. The advantage of the mall is that it is downtown and it's nice to find these "mall" stores in a downtown area. Westlake is classy, but smaller than you would think.
