We've been here a couple times. Here is what I don't like. It's huge, just too big for me. The parking can be difficult, maybe it's the time/day we go. Here is what I do like. I love the nursing rooms. Chair and a tv with a privacy curtain. How nice, I've never seen them occupied. They have a big family room. With changing spots for the diapered and a sitting area for adults and kids to hang out and watch Dora. The play area inside the mall is more geared toward under 2. My 3 and 5 year old were soooo too big for it. Bummer for me, I wanted to check out the strategically located Pumpkin Patch store, but couldn't because my kids were too bored. Wish they had something that appealed to more ages.
i love how this mall has EVERY SINGLE THING ( well most stuff the ) they have a library here so my kids love going to the mall with me now so they can use the library computer or just read books i also love how they have a new seafood or whatchamacallit asian supermarket where you can shop for groceries and other stuff !!
At least that's what it used to be called. And if I had been writing this review back in "those days" it would have been a pretty negative review. But thankfully, the mall has been remodeled and the area has improved. Love the free play area there and the fact that there is so much to do and see. Great place to let the kids loose. And if you are hungry, there are plenty of choices both in the mall and in the surrounding area.
If you like one stop shopping this is the place for you. Imagine the mall full of almost every store imaginable, surrounded by eateries and national chain stores, top that with some local businesses and a few great hotels and you are set for the weekend. That is what you'll need if you come here to shop. There is too much to do in a day, and if you leave early your sure to miss something. Make sure to take good walking shoes and plan time to take a break and eat at one of the many surrounding restaurants.
This mall has tons of stores but my favorite thing about the mall is the family restrooms and the kids area. They have a great kids area for toddlers to play in. The family restrooms have large countertops for changing diapers with sinks right next to them, a microwave, a television with toys for young kids around. They also have individual nursing rooms which is a huge plus.
Mona hit the high points of the greatness of this mall- it's gigantic, has a wonderful food court, there's tons of shopping, the kids love the play area... what's not to love! I also love it for another reason- it has the family room of any public place that I've ever been. There are two little seating areas that have curtains, so you can nurse in private. AND both of the little areas have individual TVs. This was so wonderful when I was feeding my baby and trying to keep my toddler entertained.
There's also a very comfortable larger seating area in the main part of the family room, with nice seating, more toys and a huge TV. So if you don't want to be in the little cubbies to nurse, there's tons of space out there. My son didn't want to stop playing with the toys in the family room, he even preferred it over the play area just outside! The family room also has a sink, changing areas and a microwave. It's very nice.
The food court at Southcenter Mall has the requisite selection of restaurants and fast food joints, but whoever designed the area definitely had families in mind. There’s a small section for kids to eat, complete with small chairs and table. When you’re done eating, head to the first floor for another great mall jewel—the children’s free playspace, where kids can run around with reckless abandon, and when you’re a tot, is there any other way to travel?
