We love Waterfront Park. There are always activites going on down there. Whether it's a free concert, social event, fund raiser, or benefit...something is always going on. They have craft fairs from time to time, charity walks, and during April, Thunder over Louisville is a blast.
Even if there aren't any events going on, it's still a great time out with the family. The water features are fun and refreshing during those hots days. You can also take a stroll down by the river.
We have visited this park multiple times. We especially love the sprinklers in the hot summer son. My daughter loved the big boats on the waters edge, and I loved eating a Joe's Crab Shack. It is a nice break from downtown, but still has plenty of family fun!
This park is a fun place to go if your kids need to run off some extra energy. It is also home to Thunder Over Louisville which is the Air Show and Fireworks Display the Saturday before Derby. Many different events are held here throughout the year.
If you need somewhere to go for an hour or for a day, waterfront park has a lot to do. There are two different playgrounds, two different splash parks, and even the ability to ride on a family bike. The family bikes are expensive. We really like the ability to take a walk and be able to stop and play as we go. For families that bike, there is a great bike trail along the river!
totally free fun for the kids. it has a very creative fun sprinkler systems. it also has water cannons and play ground equipment. take a picnic lunch. the kids loved it had a blast. be careful with the sand box. we think there cats might be using it as a litter box. gross!
Finally Louisville got it right and developed their riverside views! It continues to expand as more luxury condos and restaurants are added. But there is a long strip of playground equipment, sand boxes and sprinklers for all ages of children. And there is a beautiful view of the river, downtown and bridges.
