Newly renovated in 2005. New equipment and lots of open grassy areas for picnics but there are no restrooms. There is also a sandbox and picnic tables. A basketball court is located next to the playground. There is also an area that dogs are allowed. Stroller accessible.
On the one hand, a great playground for mixed-age families -- includes a more manageable structure and sand pit for the littlest kids, plus a more challenging structure for bigger kids. Great views. Picnic tables. Large grassy area for a picnic or jumpy house. Long circular path is nice for beginning bicyclists/scooter riders/skateboarders. Basketball court. On the other hand, you have to hit the nearby Safeway for a bathroom, and it's very windy in the afternoons.
No doubt about it. This playground has one of the best views in the city and it's large enough for 5 and under crowd for couple of hours. However, I have 2 problems with this playground: 1) there is no bathroom (you have to go to the fire department at the end of the park to use their restroom but only if they are there, otherwise, you're SOL); 2) my car got broken into right in front of the playground and nobody said anything (there were at least 6-10 people that came in from the direction of my car and nobody pointed out that a car was broken into).
I've been back to this playground once and I still like the view from there, the actual playground is cool for 5 and under but again...where's the bathroom?
The playground rocks.
The swings have a magnificent view of the city and there's a sandbox and the structure is challenging and entertaining.
We have encountered several friendly kids and guardians and it's nice to play and then go relax on or walk around the grass.
It can get a little brisk here, so bring a coat. And make sure you sunscreen you and the little one as there's no real shade to speak of.
I haven't been to this playground, but our kids have with their godmother. It's one of the favorite places to head to in the city.
Our 5 year old: "There is a field that is fun to run in. There are a lot of steps to climb up and down to get in and out of the playground. There isn't very much sand at this playground. I like the little climbing wall. There were some picnic tables."
Our 3 year old: "I like the slide so much. The are ropes to climb and I like it."
