"Exhausting"

This is probably the PREMIER attraction for any tourist visiting LA.  We left our kids with our hosts while we took this walk.  Miles and miles of star names, can get boring in a hurry!  But worth it for those seeking a pic of themselves on their favorite star's name!  DEFINITELY NOT FOR KIDS OF ANY AGE!

"The Walk of Fame is just a must see."

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a must see if you visit Los Angeles.  It is simply the area where the stars line the sidewalks but it is both historical and modern at the same time.  The stars include old and new and are interesting just to walk along and reminisce.  The feeling in that part of Hollywood is energizing and modern which is an interesting backdrop for the walking activity.  It also passes by landmarks such as Mann's Chinese Theater.  Despite that there is no particular activity involved it is just one of those have to see it and feel it places.

"fun to look...but, "

really it is a dirty sidewalk with lots of stars.  Its fun to look at the different STARS, but the areas are usually torn up and really dirty.  I would not take my kids to this unless your kids are in strollers napping.  They are not going to have fun.  This is an adult activity.

"It's not as glamorous as you would expect"

I always pictured Hollywood as glamorous with stars walking up and down the streets. We were greatly disappointed when we went for our honeymoon 13 years ago. The place was dirty, and sketchy. I was most disappointed that there weren't any open businesses at Hollywood and Vine. Since then they have built the Kodak Theater and cleaned the area up quite a bit. It's still fun to recognize the stars names along the streets. Watch out for the sketchy characters hanging out. They are self employed street performers. We steered our 2 year old away from the man in the torn up Elmo costume. Small children won't find this activity very exciting. Older kids probably will enjoy taking pictures with their favorite star's star.

"Over-Rated"

I think this was hyped up in my mind. The stars are really just stars on a piece of cement on a very dirty street. It was fun to go in front of the chinese theatre and see the hand prints but the many many stars were not that glamourous. This is however one of those box checker activities - I am proud to say I have seen it!

Our daughter was too young to understand what we were doing but even if she were older I don't think this is an enjoyable activity for the kids.

"Fun places to hang out"

We had been to Los Angeles several times before we finally decided to go check the Stars and the handprints. A couple of friends told us it was cheesy but I have to disagree. That was good fun, my children were all excited to see the stars of their favorite personnalities (The Simpsons, Bugs Bunny etc) and we spent a lot of time looking for the Elvis Presley Star (they moved it!).
We did not care much for the people dressed as superheroes. They were kind of scary I have to say...

"A must see!"

When you think of Hollywood one of the first places you have to go to is the Walk of Fame. It is a historic place. You can get lost just trying to find the names of your favorite celebrity stars. Also it is a great shopping and photo opp destination with the famous Chinese Theater and all of the shopping stores!

"Do it once"

The Walk of Fame is one of the most famous landmarks in LA.  If you live in LA, you should get out and see it at least once.  If you are visiting and you are really into Hollywood, you will like it.  I would not call it a "family" activity, though.  Much of the walk is in areas you probably would not want to take children.  If you stick to areas like Hollywood & Highland you get to see the walk in all its glory, with two of the most iconic Hollywood golden-era theaters.

"Fun with the Family"

In Hollywood even the sidewalks have stories to tell. This is most visibly apparent onthe Walk of Fame. There is no admission charge to stroll along sidewalks with more than 2,000 terrazzo-and-brass stars etched into them. Some stars’ famous sidewalk addresses are: 1644 Hollywood Boulevard (Marilyn Monroe), 1719 Vine Street (James Dean), 1750 Vine Street (John Lennon), and 6777 Hollywood Boulevard (Elvis Presley).

"Something you have to see"

This is one of the places we will take our friends who are visiting from another state because it is just one of those places you should see in your lifetime. My kids love that the Boulevard sparkles, and there are plenty of interesting people to observe.  More iconic California.

"For the starstruck!"

The starstruck fans in your family will love to see the stars and have their picture taken with them.  Be prepared for the crowds and the street hustlers while you are walking around.  Do a quick Internet search (one of the sites we have used is http://www.seeing-stars.com/immortalized/walkoffamestars.shtml) to find out where the stars you want to visit are.  You can also write to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to get the list in its entirety.

"Be careful where you go"

Don't plan on walking the entire walk of fame.  First, its long.  Second, it takes you into some of the more seedier parts of Hollywood.  Its best to stick to the area around Mann's Chinese Theater.  Its hard to find parking here, too, so be prepared to pay.  You will also be encountered by many hustlers.   However, it is something you should see at least once in your life, especially if you are a movie fan.

"interesting"

I wasn't ready for street performers in costumes asking for tips as you walked down the star-lined walkways.  There are a wide variety of interesting, and sometimes scary, people wandering the streets of Hollywood.  But it was pretty cool to see the Chinese Theater and all the stars.  I'm pretty sure we saw Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) in the California Pizza Kitchen at Hollywood & Highland, a very nice open air mall.  Next time we want to go up to the observatory at Griffith Park, but we ran out of time.
