My preschooler had tons of fun on the kiddie rides and didn't need big, huge roller coasters or tons of rides to be happy. We bought the bracelets and in retrospect I probably would have just gotten the bracelet for my son and not the adults since he could ride many rides alone.
Right outside the entrance of Presque Isle State Park is Waldameer Park and WaterWorld. If you don’t spot it, your kids definitely will. There are five body slides, three 246 Water World is a relaxing place to cool off on a sticky summer day, with two waterslides, a rope swing, a large pool, and a wading pool for the little ones. There is a small snack bar and picnicking facilities.
This is a rare amusement park, because there's no charge for admission! Anyone can come and go as they please, which is great if you're just bringing the kids to ride but don't plan to yourself. Waldameer has been an Erie tradition for so many years, it's truly iconic. They've really expanded their rides and water park in the last 10 years, making it a fun and entertaining day for everyone.
There's a thing called a Ride-A-Rama that you can purchase that will get you on all the rides and water slides for the whole day. Or you can choose to just do the water park and buy a different pass. And of course there's individual ride tickets if you are just passing through for a quick ride on the giant Ferris Wheel that overlooks Lake Erie. It's beautiful!
You're also permitted to bring in your own food. If you bring a cooler, you have to find a picnic pavilion that's available (many are rented by companies and groups for parties). And you could leave your cooler and go ride, but it's at your own risk. There's no secure place to leave something like that.
Waldameer really makes an effort to keep their business family friendly. You won't be disappointed.
