"Not for little ones"

My husband and I did the Nolichucky with Wahoo's last summer. You have your choice of funyaks or a raft with a guide. You have to be 7 to go on this trip - this is regulated by the National Forest Service. They also have the Watauga River which is fine for 2 year olds and up. It's a dammed river unlike the Nolichucky so the water is really cold. But the level class of rapids is such that no one will fall out. Some more adventurous folks will consider it boring. Wilson's Creek is only for those 12 and over. It's all funyaks but there has to be significant rain fall in order to navigate the rapids. It's mostly class 4 & 5, but no experience is required on any of these trips. This group is great when it comes to safety. The trip we were on, we even stayed back to help with another rafting group (not with Wahoo's) who were having some trouble. I'd gladly use them again (in fact we're trying to do the Wilson Creek run this summer!)

They also have tubing and caving trips but I have no experience with either of them.

"Outdoor enthusiasts will love it!"

To schedule an active family adventure without doing all the planning yourself, call Wahoo’s Adventures. No matter what kind of adventure you are looking for, Wahoo’s can help you put it all together.

White-water rafting trips are offered on four rivers in the area for all different ages and skill levels. Full- and half-day trips are conducted, and picnics are prepared for you by the crew.

If an overnight trip is more to your liking, that can be arranged. The outfitter also plans four-wheel-drive trips, self-guided canoe trips, inner-tubing, and ski trips. Prices are as varied as the activities, so call ahead for information or to make reservations.
