"Beautiful park"

Vasona and the adjacent Oak Meadow Park are great for all ages of kids. Parking fee,but park above the park and walk in for free. Several different playgrounds,sand/water area, train ride, carousel (limited operating hours) paths for bikes make this special. What we really dislike is that many feed the Canadian (non native) Geese, despite many posters requesting to not do so. The park is really overun and goose poop is everywhere-even on play structures. ICK ICK. Be sure to visit the fantastic Youth Science Institue at Vasona. Lots of real and stuffed animals....FREE but donations requested

"Best Park"

This park is wonderful.  I have fond memories of birthday parties and barbecues here when I was a child and I'd like to think that my child will have wonderful memories, as well.
The park is gigantic with a great playground and picnic area.  There is an adorable train and carousel.  Plenty of trees, pond, and creek.
And the bike path that extends through the park is one of the best I've been on.
This is definitely one of the places I miss now living in Central Valley where parks as nice as this are non-existent.

"Huge park"

I love the size of this park.  It's huge.  There are so many different areas where you can go hang out.  They have nice little lakes, as well.  My favorite part is the play area where they have a merry go round and train rides.  For a nominal fee, you can take your kids on a train ride around the park.  They also sell snacks, including ice cream.  Great place to go and relax or have a birthday party.

"Vasona all year round"

Love Vasona all year round for sure.  Playground for kids, great walking, biking, jogging trails, large grass area for picnics.  Close to the kids train and Carousel.  Parking fee is about $5, but you can also walk into the park and make it an afternoon outing.  If you have babies, be aware that there are a lot of geese and there is excrement around, so you probably don't want your babies crawling on the grass area.  During December they have the Festival of lights that you can drive through the park and even take the train.  Get there early, since people sometimes line up an hour before it opens.

"Has it all!!!"

This park is the perfect family destination for a day in the outdoors. For starters it is simply beautiful: the serene Vasona Lake and vast grassy expanses set against the backdrop of Log Gatos hills always make me happy and calm.  And there are so many activities to choose from!!  You can stroll, hike, bike or rollerblade along the Los Gatos Creek trail that curves around the lake and continues through the park along-side the Los Gatos creek with lots of cute little bridges.  You can rent a boat and paddle or row the lake, fish or visit with the many duckies and geese who walk and swim about the lake and creek area.  The kids always love to play in the nice-size playground and run around in the many large grassy areas.   And to make it a perfect day plan on a picnic/bbq utilizing the many picnic tables and barbecues available on the premises or just spread a blanket on the grass.  We also like to take a quick stroll along the creek into neighboring Oak Meadow Park, where we can board the cute train that runs through Vasona park and also take a spin or two on the carousel.  Sometimes after a day at the park, we head down Santa Cruz Ave for pizza at T-Bird’s Pizza followed by frozen yogurt and ice cream next door.

During the summer there are outdoors concerts at the park.  During the winter there is a beautiful drive-through lights display at this park.  Check with park for exact dates and hours .  For the lights display be prepared for long lines around the block.  Coming earlier, on a weekday, right before opening seems to work better.

"Don't get hooked!"

Great place for your little one to fish or get a feel for his first rod casting experience.  Just watch that the hook doesn't get thrown back to hook his little finger!  Lots of trails for strolling and grassy picnic areas for family fun.
