I love the Universal Citywalk. There is so much fun stuff to do. It is fun to take the kids in the day to catch a movie, a bite to eat, and maybe some bowling, shopping, indoor sky diving, or sit and have an ice cream and watch all the people go by!
Some of the restaurants that are at the citywalk are, Saddle Ranch (see my review), Wolfgang puck, Tony Romas, Bubba Gump, Hard Rock (see review) and many more. Including Pizza Hut, Subway, Taco Bell, Panda Express etc.
The movie theater complex is huge! They have 19 theaters with huge screens and state of the art sound. This is not your average theater. They also have an 8 story Imax theater. WOW!
The bowling alley is very hip and the indoor sky diving looks like a lot of fun.
This is also connected the Universal City. A theme park dedicated to the movies. You could have a nice vacation by doing the Citywalk one day and Universal another day. This is worth checking out. You will have a nice time.
Be prepared to spend some money. Things are not cheap. Parking is $10, you get a discount if you see a movie, & all the activities add up.
Yea, I really dont see how great this place is. When my friends brought me here, I had somewhat high exceptations cause CityWalk is close to Universal Studios. Compared to the Santa Monica 3rd street promendade, this is just a sliver of that. This place doesn't have many favorite stores but a very few of them and iI find food/stores here pretty pricey. There seems to be more fun in store for the kids here like a play-park filled with balls. Alot of construction was done since 10 yrs ago back then, there are so much for children to do here nowadays.
This is a good place to visit for anyone - lots of restaurants and for the budget-minded, a food court upstairs. You can catch a movie, stroll around looking at the shops, do some indoor sky-diving, play games, or go next door to Universal Studios. Valet parking or paid self parking. Pretty crowded on weekends, so go on a weekday afternoon if you can.
Maybe I am a bit jaded but I don't see what the big deal is about City Walk. It just seems like one big tourist trap to me. Its the same bunch of stores and restaurants you would see anywhere alot of tourists flock. It actually was quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be as well. I don't know- I just don't get it.
CityWalk is really fun when you are a teenager growing up in LA and you want to go out on a Saturday night. If you want to see movies, there are cheaper places to take your family. There are some neat things but mostly it is stores and restaurants aimed at the 20-something and older crowd.
An eclectic outdoor pedestrian promenade with an atmosphere made to resemble a studio back lot. There are actually two streets lined with palms and joined by a central courtyard area with fountains. But all is not so sedate: A mammoth King Kong clings to the facade of one building, and a huge photographic likeness of Wayne Grezsk
y adorns a sports-memorabilia emporium. Get the picture?
There are many theme restaurants here, including B.B. King’s Blues Club and a Hard Rock Cafe. CityWalk is adjacent to the AMC Theatres (818–508–0711), which houses—count ’em—eighteen movie theaters, including IMAX 3-D, and connects to Gibson Amphitheatre, an oustanding concert and performance venue with no seat more than 150 feet from the stage. Visit www.hob.com/venues/concerts/gibson or call (818) 622–4440.
My husband and I would often head to Universal CityWalk for a date night and bring the kids along. We all enjoyed walking around, browsing the shops, and eating out at the interesting restaurants. In fact, our first date was here! The kids also really enjoyed the outdoor ice skating rink at Christmastime and we would make it a point to be there for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
Good way to spend an evening with the family without spending an entire day in an amusement park. Shop, watch a movie, and listen to live music. We were here during the Christmas season and really enjoyed the hourly snow storm in the middle of the mall.
