This isn't a mall in the typical sense. Built in an old train station the architecture is cool to look at. Not really anything for the kids to do. Paddle boats are available during the summer months but they are pricey and the life jackets stink. There are a couple of restaurants at Union Station but none are family friendly.
I haven't ever really found anything of value to do here - basically a really touristy mall on the eastern side of downtown - there is a fudge shop where you can view fudge being made every once in a while, but that's about as kid-friendly as it gets. Oh, there are nice fountains outside. Inside, though, is not worth your time, especially if you're just visiting St. Louis.
i grew up in St Louis and always enjoyed spending a rainy day in union station watching the fudge guys sing their songs! The cheesecake factory has amazing food. Parking is pricey for what you get, but hey you get delicious fudge for a great price! While you are there be sure to throw some change in a wishing fountain!
Great old building to enter. Go upstairs to the hotel lobby for a fully refurbished art deco treat! There is an indoor trampoline which is a lot of fun for older children and adults. There are also some fun poster and tourists shops and a fun place to watch fudge be make by singing candy-makers. And there are some decent restaurants, some which have nice outdoor seating and a view of their man-made water feature. Fun for a few hours of your day.
This is a mall that is billed in the tourism info as a great spot for families, but I have to disagree. The shops in the mall are interesting to a point as there are not a lot of big chain stores. There is a pond with resturants surrounding it and paddle and remote controlled boats for rent. But, the boats are expensive and the wait was very long for the resturants. Also, parking was limited and expensive.
