"Irresistible"

I stumbled across the Union Square Greenmarket during our trip to the playground and boy was I excited that we did.  As I drew close and caught a glimpse of a table stacked high with carrots of every color - purple, red, orange, yellow..., my eyes grew so big they almost popped out of my head.  I ran like a child to pick them up (the carrots I mean!).  As we grazed from stand to stand, I was simply delighted to see the beautiful selection of rare produce.  It's the fall, and there were about 10 varieties of apples.  The kids tasted a few different ones and we all discovered a new variety named "keepsake" that we just adore.  It's flesh is golden and the flavor was sweet and intense.  Even at $1 an apple, I was incredibly excited to take them home.

Down a few stalls, were artisan breads, cheese, even a man selling ostrich and emu eggs.  Did you know that emu eggs are an insanely deep green color?  The egg didn't even look real, but don't tell the frowning man behind the table who obviously considered these eggs his treasures and the little hands of kids a threatening menace.  It's okay, i almost freaked out when one of our boys picked up the emu egg.

Whether you are a foodie or raising a foodie, you'll be in heaven at Union Square Greenmarket.  Don't miss the educational booth that teaches anyone who wants to learn about sustainable and organic farming practices.  It's a great place to get some tips from the experts.
