Kids Play Area on Level 3
If you have a fashionista in your family, then this mall is for you. You can shop and shop and shop and still have more to look at! This mall has something for everyone! While some stores are a bit high end, others are not. Don't forget to grab a cupcake while you are there! Tyson Corner is home to CakeLove, the bakery owned by renowned baker Warren Brown. YUM!
We went here about two months ago. It would take forever to cover all the stores! We didn't even get to the next levels of shopping. It takes so long. They have really good stores, and good food too. Have a good frozen yogurt place. Something for everyone here!
The shopping here has everything and there are a bunch of restaurants to chose from. The traffic is a bear but traffic is terrible everywhere in northern Virginia. The playplace is newly renovated and the kids love it. If you go in the summer or on the weekend expect the playplace to be very crowded. In the winter and fall months there are often children's concerts there during the weekdays.
When it's hot or rainy, or we're just looking for something "different" to do, I am ashamed to admit we hit the mall all too often. Tysons Corner is practically in our backyard, so it's usually the one we hit.
This is a very large mall...the biggest in the DC area. If you or the kids love to shop, there's plenty for everyone. I've been told that if you walk down every hallway on each floor and make a complete circuit, each floor is a mile and a half. I'm not exactly sure this is true, but it is a *big* place! High end shopping, typical mall stores, a movie theater, and two food courts.
Highlights for the preschool set include: the large aquarium with REAL FISH inside L.L. Bean, the play tables at the Lego store, and the play area in the 3rd floor food court, which just re-opened in May 2010 with a recycling theme. If you visit, be prepared for some shoes-off raucous fun, as visitors rarely follow the height limit (sometimes it is just little ones, but other times it's overrun with older kids). The complementary hand sanitizer stations are almost always full -- use 'em! We've picked up our fair share of colds there too.
During holiday shopping time, avoid this mall if you're in a hurry -- in the summer, we live 5 minutes away; it's taken us 45 minutes to get through traffic in the high season. Add Tysons construction (for 495 hotlanes and for the new metro stations), and it could get ugly!
Lots of free parking in lots and garages.
Sure, Tysons Corner has shopping. It's one of the largest malls in the country. But it's also a great destination for toddlers. In the newest section by the movie theaters and next to the food court is an enclosed toddler play area with parent seating all around. It can get pretty crowded but it's a good destination on a rainy day, or when you need to get some shopping done. There are plenty of restaurants. Go straight to the top levels of the parking garage and take the walkway directly to the food court.
I've always been a fan of Tysons Corner mall. It is huge, has so many options and has seemed "better" than the malls more local to me in Maryland. They have such a large variety of stores, 3 or 4 "anchor" stores, a movie theater and a good selection of food. If you're more in the mood for a standard mall experience, Tysons is the choice.
Nearby, Tysons Corner Center is a true “shop till you drop” place with more than 250 stores, including Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor, Eddie Bauer, Williams-Sonoma, and The Disney Store. Pottery Barn has Kids Concerts weekends in the summer.
