"Best view on the island"

The lighthouse was beautiful and offered the best view of the island!  With the admission you also can view all the buildings on the grounds!  As well as the museum across the lot.  The deck is old and being slightly nervous of heights it was a but scary, but worth it!  Not necessarily the best choice with young children...carrying a child up over a thousand steps was a bit exhausting!  One important piece of info I wish I had known was that parking by the lighthouse is FREE we paid to park in another area before we knew this.

"A Beautiful Site"

The Tybee Island Lighthouse is absolutely beautiful!  It has been wonderfully restored.  It is such a peaceful site to see.  It is very high and lots of climbing to get to the top but worth the walk.  You can see so much from the balcony.  Something you definitely want to experience.

"Fun High in the Sky"

First of all, this is not for the faint of heart...or those who have issues with heights.  I'll freely admit that I was shaking by the time I got to the top and could barely step out onto the balcony at the top, since I was so uncomfortable with the height.  But my husband and daughter loved it!  She was so excited that she was able to climb to the top all by herself (holding Daddy's hand, of course) and loved looking down at everything below!

Take a tour to the top and view beautiful Tybee Island.  Take a tour around the lightkeeper's house also.  Souvenir shop on site.  Was told on our trip that it has been a working lighthouse for almost 270 years.  The views are breathtaking.  It is a looong climb to the top (178 stairs!) but worth the trip.  My daughter loved it!

Directions:
Head East on Victory Drive or Highway 80.
Take a left at the first stoplight on Tybee Island, Campbell Avenue.
Take a left on Van Horne.
Take your first right which is Meddin Drive until you reach the lightstation.  There are round brown signs to help guide the way.
