Lots of events monthly, ever changing exhibits, kids play areas and in the summer a rocking concert series
We appreciate the play area next to Starbucks at the Twenty Ninth Street mall. It provides a nice outlet for the kids when our family is out to eat or shop. And we're glad they covered the play area so the kids wouldn't burn themselves on the slide anymore! The play area is great place to connect with other families since it's not as spread out as a regular playground at a park or as congested as the indoor play area at places like Flatirons Mall.
The thing I dislike the most about the 29th St mall is that it is really hard to push a stroller around. I have found a number of times that I will be walking down the sidewalk and end up at the top (or bottom) of a bunch of steps which forces me to turn around and find the accessible way down. It gets annoying after a while. They did put a kids play area next to Starbucks (convenient!) which is fun and they finally had the sense to put a shade over it during the summer when it gets to hot to play on. There are also a number of other exhibits throughout the mall but they are all wonderfully compelling for small children to climb on and they all have a sign saying "no climbing". Try telling your energetic 4 year old that the fun looking planets are just to LOOK at....it doesn't go down well. So, thumbs down for family friendliness at the 29th St mall.
