This is another spot we like to head to on our bikes while visiting the shore. We have been going to Trustom pond in the summer/fall for many years. There is so much wildlife here and the trails are very well maintained. During some of the summer months there is a ranger available to answer questions in the ranger hut with many wildlife artifacts displayed. Also there is a board outside to list what you found on your hikes. Our kids love to try to fill up this board. We are always sure to see 3 GIANT snapping turtles in the old farm pond, and monarch butterflies and/or caterpillars. We have also seen herons, otters, deer, many types of birds and bug, leopard frogs, swans ,snakes and MOSQUITOS. Bring the bug spray. Although you are in the center of a clearing for a while, there are other parts of the trails inundated with these pests. We have also found blackberries and blueberries here. The kids enjoy picking them. It's a good way to spend a slow half a day away from the beach when you need a sand break.
