This is a paved bike trail from Tahoe City and goes up to 4 miles to Squaw Valley. We followed directions in an easy day hike book to walk this with a stroller as far as Alpine Meadow or something like that. We made it only about a mile in (or less) before we decided to turn around. The path (even on a weekday late in August) has heavy bicycle traffic. There is one path, divided in 2 lanes of traffic. Pedestrians are instructed to walk on the left, facing oncoming bike traffic, and to yield to bicycles. This made for a rather anxious walking experience. From the beginning of the hike, you see people start tubing down the Truckee River, then you separate from the river as you pass a CalTrans lot and then a hardware store. Then you have glimpses of the river on the left and highway 89 above you on your right. Eventually you do get to see a bit of the river, rather wistfully wishing you'd decided to go tubing instead of walking. There are some dusty pullouts on the river bank and we eventually sat down and ate our lunch and headed back.
I'm giving it a 4 star rating; it's a 3-star for hiking, but I'm estimating it's a 5-star for biking so I averaged it.
