Trinity was the code name of the first detonation of a nuclear device. This test was conducted by the United States Army on July 16, 1945, in the Jornada del Muerto desert about 35 miles southeast of Socorro, New Mexico, at the White Sands Proving Ground.
How to Get There
From Alamogordo
A caravan assembles at the Otero County Fairgrounds and is escorted by WSMR vehicles to Trinity Site. The caravan leaves at 8:00am. Be sure to have your vehicle fully fueled as the drive from Alamogordo to Trinity is some 80 miles, making the round trip around 160 miles
