More than 1,507 miles of rugged shoreline and hundreds of coves seem to absorb and hide houseboats, water-skiers, Jet Skis, and fishing boats. The west side is dotted with campgrounds, resorts, and boat launch ramps, while the east side, with some what restricted auto access, is largely undeveloped. Try your luck at fishing for trophy-size large mouth bass, trout, kokanee salmon, and catfish.
Headquarters for houseboat, fishing boat, and watercraft rentals is the Trinity Lake Resorts marina (800–255–5561; www.trinitylakeresort.com; north on Highway 3, fifteen miles to Cedar Stock Road). Here also are rental cabins, a casual restaurant, and general store .
