This hike begins behind the Lodgepole Campground and continues for 1.7 miles to Tokopah Falls.
We took this 3.4 mile hike with our 3 year olds in August and had a great time. There are plenty of places to stop along the way and enjoy the Kaweah River. Be careful, wet granite can be slippery (I learned this the hard way and fell while wading in the river. I was fine, just cold and wet). Tokopah Falls were still running in August but not with much force. Pictures I have seen of the falls in early summer are much more impressive, but I think the hike is great any time the snow has melted. A fellow hiker said they spotted a bear in the meadow while hiking but we missed it. Bummer! Since this hike begins near a popular campground, bears are sometimes in the are looking for a free meal. While they are used to humans, you should always enjoy views of bears from a safe distance
