Families are able to get an inside look as Tillamook's cheesemakers and packaging staff at work. Of course, free cheese samples (including cheese curds, or "squeaky cheese") are available.

Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day
It was a really fun place to go a look at how they many cheese. Unfortunatly we got there just 15 minutes before they were going to close. It all looked so interesting and the gift shop was amazing but we just didn't have to time to enjoy it like we would have liked to.
If you ever want to know how cheese is made then stop by here for sure. You get to try different types of cheese and see how everything is made. They have souvenirs and other things for kids to enjoy. Our kids loved the ship out front. It was a great place to visit.
Whenever we are in Oregon visiting family we try to make it out to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. It is fun to get to see how the cheese is made and packaged. One of our favorite parts is getting to try all of the different types of cheese at the end of the self-guided tour.
Once you are done there is a little cafe kind of area where you can buy grilled cheese sandwiches and other tasty meals and then you can go get a cone of Tillamook ice cream (which may be the best ice cream ever made)
In the end, this is fun for all ages!
It is well worth the drive we took to come see the factory. You get to sample some different cheeses and then there is a little shop you can buy all kinds of cheese and different things. Then there is the ice cream part and let me just say, they didn’t disappoint me there either! If you’re in the area GO!
This place is fun for all of the family it has a gift shop, food, self guided tour and a cafe.
The self guided tour is what my kids like to hit first. See how the cheese is made and watch the people work. Next you get to move on to samples of various cheeses. Always good when you can give your kids free food.
Next it is off to the gift shop and have fudge and pepperoni. Once you top that off with chocolate milk go stand in line for ice cream. The waffle cones with their ice cream is a family favorite.
This basically is a walk through food fest that your family will love.
My family and I stop here every time we travel to the beach. Its fun for the kids to see how the cheese is made and to taste all the different kinds of cheese. (side note: must try squeaky cheese!) Then if you're hungry, they have a nice cafe with a full menu and GREAT ice cream. A great place to have a unique experience and eat some good food!
Every time we are in the Oregon Coast area we make an effort to get to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. The visitor's center is full of cheese to purchase and is so much fun to watch the cheese being made and packaged! I can here as a kid and remember it being so much fun - and an ice cream treat at the end was always a priceless reward. Highly recommend visiting!
We love the Tillamook Cheese Factory! Every time we make it to the Oregon coast we have to stop in there. The icecream is the best in the world. We love the cheese samples and always buy fresh cheese curds and pepperoni to take home. It's best to go during the week when you can actually watch them working while you munch on your icecream.
It is kind of neat to see the factory and the whole process making the cheese. You get to sample all kinds of cheese. And then there is the ice cream shop. That is the best part! We have stopped there a couple times went straight for the ice cream.
Free cheese samples, ice cream of every flavor and the best grilled cheese sandwiches around. Plus you can watch cheese being made and buy some gifts at the same time. This is the perfect destination for all ages, and one of my most favorite places in all of Oregon.
The "tour" really isn't so much a tour as a viewing area with windows that look down into the factory. There are signs and an informational video, but it's nothing spectacular. Tillamook cheese, however, is spectacular! The absolute best thing about the factory is the cheese sample bar! They also have an ice cream parlor that is decently priced, and the ice cream is pretty great. I wouldn't recommend making the 2 hour drive from Portland out here just for this, but if you're in the area, it is absolutely worth a stop!
If you're taking your family to be educated about how cheese is made, the kids might get bored while you read the info boards or watch informational videos. If you're there purely for the cheese samples, ice cream, fudge, or deli - heaven! The visitor's center is 1/3 viewing area of the cheese making, 1/3 deli/ice cream counter, and 1/3 gift shop, so young kids (like my 2 year old) probably will only enjoy eating and waving at the factory workers.
The tour wasn't the greatest, but the ice cream was worth the trip. Be prepared for long lines for free cheese sampling and if you want to purchase food or ice cream. I recommend trying the chocolate milk. It comes in miniature looking gallon size containers and it's very delicious.
Dont let the smell when you drive into the town fool you! They do have the best cheese and ice cream in the whole wide world!
Our son loved walking around looking at the videos... sampling the cheese and the gift shop!
Of course, after the visit, some ice cream was a must!
Not the best tour I have ever had but if you’re in the area you should go. It is free the includes a free cheese samples and if your hungry lunch is offered as well as ice cream and a gift shop. If you wish to see the factory tour you will have to climb stairs so be prepared. Museum type information is gathered on the walls throughout the factory and a brief film can capture your interest for a short time. Some hands on gadgets for little ones. This tour is for everyone old and young.
We had heard so much about the Tillamook Cheese factory but actually found it to be nothing special. You basically wander through a very short cheese "museum", see the factory through the window and sample a few pieces of cheese.
Then you have to try to herd your children through the large gift area...
we did stop at the cafeteria before hitting the road for bagels and cream cheese.
We've been to the cheese facotry a few times now. I always get an ice cream. It's cute to stop by - but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
If you're in the area, stop by - watch the assembly line. Check out the gift shop and get in line for some ice cream!
I have been to the factory three times and each time I still enjoy it, even though I've already seen the process. My favorite part is getting me some delicious Tillamook ice cream at the end of the tour. My daughter was a baby when we took her, but I think my kids will love this place in a couple years and can't wait to go back. If your staying in Seaside, Or. The drive isn't bad and a fun little day trip with a great scenic drive.
I love Tillamook Cheese, so on our way to another destination we decided to stop by with my one year old and my 11 year old sister. I walked in imagining that I was going to be following a cheese fanatic through a huge cheese factory. The actual tour is self guided and doesn't really take that long as everything is right together. What you do see is very interesting. The factory and tour I might give 3 or 4 stars, but for the fact that they give you all the cheese samples your heart desires I will bump it to 5 stars.YUM! We stopped in the cafe area and had some ice cream. They also have a gift shop. It is great stop for a couple hours, but not a whole day activity.
My kids were fascinated with watching them make cheese, but I do advise that if you go, go during the week during off peak summer months.
During the summer, the cheese factory on a weekend can make Costco on a busy day look slow. But, don't forget to buy the cheese curds... Kids love the squeaky cheese!
