"Plan your trip in March/April!"

On its own the Tidal Basin in DC is beautiful. The surroundings near it really just make it picturesque. It is even better if you go during March or April when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. It is truly a beautiful sight. Cool place to take pictures and paddle boat around! The Tidal Basin is a great place to visit if you're in DC for a day.

"Paddling Boating in the Tidal Basin"

A MUST-DO for all late-spring and summer visitors to the D.C., taking a paddle boat out to view the Jefferson Memorial is a time-honored tradition enjoyed by tourists and residents alike. We've taken entire Girl Scout troops out for a spin and had a blast. Be sure to bring your camera - the photos are spectactular, especially during Cherry Blossom season (April). Be warned that very small children (toddlers and younger) are not permitted on the boats, so be prepared to have one parent sit this one out if your family includes the very young. Also, bring sunblock and sunglasses - the sun's rays are magnified out in the Tidal Basin.

"Cherry Blossoms abound in March/April"

This is one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in Washington DC.  From the Tidal Basin you can recreate that gorgeous picture of the Jefferson Memorial with the cherry blossoms.  We stopped by here on our memorial walk.  We got off at the Smithsonian Metro stop, walked to the Washington Monument and from there you turn left and you will see the Tidal Basin.  You can rent a peddleboat if you would like to take a ride on the water.  We did not do this since our kids are so young, but we walked around and checked out the water and the birds!
