Theodore Roosevelt Island is a living memorial dedicated to the 26th President of the United States. The Island has several gentle nature trails and boardwalk that allow visitors to escape from the urban environment and view wildlife in the forest and swamp.
This a very toddler friendly circuit hike. Half of the trail is natural surface and the other half is a raised, wooden walkway in the wetlands which makes the hike very jogging stroller friendly. There are some great places to hang out on a small beach and watch the boat traffic on the Potomac River. Take a picnic lunch and play hide and go seek at the monument.
