"Lots to do!"

You won't run out of things to do or see here!  The bronze statues are not for playing on, but the kids will try anyway.  Once you get inside the kids will be entertained.  I haven't been able to spend more than 2 minutes in the art and history museums, because the kids want to spend all their time in the science museum.  They also like the 4th museum, which I forget the name of, and look at the armor and stone statues.  There are plenty of activities to keep most age groups interested and involved.

"changing exhibits"

The kids have enjoyed going to this museum (ages 7,7,4) and the different exhibits they bring in. The planetary section always seems to catch their interest the most. The sculpture garden outside is interesting because many of the Dr. Suess characters are familiar to them and those they are not familiar with they ask to read about. A good day diversion. Chech if you are a memeber of your local museum, they may have a reciprocity agreement and you may not have to pay to enter.

"Fun with the Family"

Winner of the Commonwealth Award in 1999, the Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle, a complex that incorporates four museums and the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden, is a nice place to spend time. Parking is free at the museums’ lots on Edwards Street and State Street.
The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden includes eighteen bronze sculptures, which are a tribute to Theodor Geisel, author of the Dr. Seuss books.
Museums at the Quadrangle include:
Connecticut Valley Historical Museum—more than 365 years of Pioneer Valley and Springfield history and the Seussscape playroom for young children (a small gallery with books and toys on the Seuss theme)
George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum—Middle Eastern rugs, largest collection of Chinese cloisonné in the West, Shinto shrine, nineteenth-century American paintings, and the Hasbro Games Art Discovery Center for Families
Springfield Museum of Fine Arts—European and American paintings, sculpture, and paper mediums.
Springfield Science Museum—The African Hall focuses on the diverse wildlife of the African continent, and Dinosaur Hall (the kids’ favorite) includes a full-size replica of a towering tyrannosaur. Other attractions include a hands-on Exploration Center, an aquarium, an observatory, an antique airplane, and a planetarium (observatory program once a month)
