"A rest in the middle of a shopping trip"
We've been to this play area twice, once when my son was about four and once when he was almost six. This play area is a nice way to rest in the middle of shopping or a way to entertain a child so they can make it through an entire shopping trip. At least that's how we were using the play area because our son had a lot of energy when he was younger. The play area is padded and very safe. There are a lot of sizes of things to climb in or on and this area really entertained him when he was four.
When he was six we stopped here while we waited for the rest of our family to arrive...this was the meeting point. Unfortunately, our son is tall for his age and was about two millimeters taller than the height limit. They didn't have someone at the entrance checking height, but rather in the middle of him playing a Tanforan worker approached him and told him he was too old to be in there and he had to leave. He was embarrassed.
This obviously was the actions of a single employee, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. There may not be an age limit but there is a height limit.

"indoor play area"
On a rainy day it's hard to find places where kids can jump, run and get their energy out while staying dry. The indoor play area at the Tanforan Mall is perfect. They have different climbing structures, with slides, tunnels, etc. that the kids can climb on and keeps them entertained. It's also nice if Mom needs to do some shopping, its a one stop place where everyone can benefit. Sometimes it does get crowded, but the kids don't seem to mind.
