The Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse Ny is a quaint little zoo in upstate new york. Its small and quiet. Mostly birds and reptiles, along with the cutest penguins you'll ever see. Lions, tigers and bears oh my. There are elephants and monkeys too. Its a small zoo but definatley worth the trip for kids.
What a great zoo! It's a large zoo, but not so large that little kids lose interest. It's a very manageable size. My children enjoyed seeing the elephants especially. They have an indoor section, too, which is nice if the weather turns bad. Additionally, you can bring your own food to eat in their cafeteria or buy the food they already have there. Bathrooms were clean, which is (in my opinion as a mom) always a nice bonus!!!
The Rosamond Zoo at Burnet Park is one that I grew up going to and I have wonderfully fond memories of it. I recently took my own children there and really enjoyed the pretty park, the variety of animals and the low cost of admission! This is a great family trip to take again and again and can easily be seen in a couple of hours.
Love this place!! This zoo has all that you are looking for. The elephant show is soooooo cute! They also have a family farm center where your children can learn how to milk a cow. It is worth the money and is reasonably priced. The zoo has many animals to watch in their natural habitats. The penguins are a big hit with my kids as were the peacocks.
A great zoo for the whole family!! I love to see the animals in their natural environment!! There are some in glass cages that are fun to watch, especially the monkeys. There are all kinds of shows with the animals too. The gift shop is great fun with so much to choose from.
The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is a nice zoo for children because of its manageable size. Unlike larger metropolitan zoos, little ones can easily see all of the Rosamond Gifford zoo in a few hours without getting exhausted. The zoo has wide variety of animals and lots of fun special events for kids of all ages (check the zoo's website for events and times). A great place to spend a Saturday!
This zoo has surely changed over the years. From a small cramped space with animals not looking too happy, to an awesome open area, with animals roaming in their natural environments. The play area is so much fun for the little ones, and it is great to be able to walk around watching how animals interact.
From sharks and sheep to snow leopards and Siberian tigers, there are hundreds of wild and domestic animals residing in naturalistic habitats at this thirty-two-acre zoo.
