"Great historical monument to visit"

When in Provincetown, this monument is visible virtually all over town.  We stayed at a B&B just down the hill from here, so it seemed natural to take the tour.  When you walk in there is a museum on the ground floor, and then you can take the many steps up the tower to the top and walk out and view the town and surrounding sights.  It was interesting to hear the history of the monument and my kids liked to hike up the steps to the top.  Anyone with physical limitations or those with small children or older travelers in their group wouldn't want to attempt the climb, but we liked it.  The steps were large and the inside is roomy, so you don't feel claustrophobic.

At the top you can walk around the perimeter of the monument and get views that are wonderful on a clear day.  We went in early May and did not have to wait in line at all.  We were also able to walk around the grounds the monument is located on and take pictures easily.  It doesn't take a lot of time to do the monument, but it is worth the visit.  It's also a nice balance to the other things you can do in Provincetown.  Doesn't hurt to get a little history into the mix!

"WOW!"

Everything about P-Town is amazing.  Main Street is a blast for the whole family with all of the restaurants and shops.  The Penny Candy Store is a must-visit.  The beach is beautiful and it is an amazing place to walk.  Getting off of Main Street and walking down to the very point of Cape Cod is breathtakingly gorgeous.  LOVE this place!

"Fun with the Family"

The Provincetown Museum and Pilgrim Monument is worth a visit for the view from the 252-foot-high tower that was modeled after the Campanile, or bell tower, in Siena, Italy. The tower was built to commemorate the landing of the Pilgrims. On a clear day the view of the curving Cape is breathtaking. The museum focuses on maritime history, Provincetown’s diverse history, and the whaling industry.
