"Rest & Relaxation"

Our family loves going to the Outer Banks area.  There are all kinds of vacation homes you can choose from to rent.  The atmosphere is just full of rest and relaxation!  It's a fun place for the kids to play in the sand and find seashells - we always seem to find lots when we go!  Also enjoy that there are museums and things to do somewhat close if you're looking for activities.  Highly recommend!

"Quiet Family Time."

We love to go to the outer banks of North Carolina.  It is so peaceful there and there is just something about the area that is timeless.  The kids will love the beach and shelling and playing in the dunes.  If you're lucky you may get to see some of the wild horses on the beach there.  Also its one of the only places you can watch the sun set over the water on the east coast due to the intercoastal waterway.  You and your kids will love it!

"Lots to do!"

We traveled here in the spring, so it wasnt ocean weather yet but we found lots to do. Make sure you visit where the first airplane took off, that was the highlight of our trip. Learned alot about aviation history. We werent able to go see the wild horses, but I have heard it is amazing and worth the time! :)

"Crowded, but great fun"

So many things to do - the beach, sand dunes, Wright Brothers monument, miniature golf, hiking, etc. Lots of seafood places and gift shops.  Across the sound is a great aquarium that the kids really loved.  Getting into or out of the OBX on the same days as the crowd can be painful (one bridge in and out), so try to miss the rush by a day on each end of the trip.

"Great Summer Vacation Spot"

Our family rented a house in the Southern Shores area with some friends and had a blast this summer.  Whether you want to do nothing but sit back and relax or keep busy with activities for people of all ages, this is a great place to consider for a wonderful vacation.  Beware of traffic on Saturdays when people are checking in/out along the coast!

"Beachfully Yours"

Our family has been going to the OBX on and off for the last 15 years. The homes here couldn't be more ideal for multiple family get-togethers. Most houses have 6+ bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms.  Dinning areas to seat 12+ and gourmet kitchens, plenty of relaxing rooms, media rooms, and more.  If your budget allows, I would suggest getting an oceanfront home. It is totally worth it when you have kids, to have the convenience of your home right on the beach. If you can go off season (pre-Memorial Day or post Labor Day), you will score the best deals on the home rentals.  We did this for years until our kids were too old to really miss school.

The beaches are wide and open. Never, ever crowded.  I like renting on the northern part of the island anywhere from Duck to Whalehead.  You are going to find a large grocery store in Corolla with lots of other little shops.  But Duck is adorable with plenty of little stores and shops to visit.  While you in Duck, be sure to make reservations at The Blue Point - the food is great.

If you head to the southern part of the island for the day, perhaps a visit to Kitty Hawk, eat at Awful Arthur's. I think it is the best seafood on the Island.

The only downer to the Outerbanks is getting there.  You have to fly to Norfolk, VA and then allow at least 2 hours to drive down to the Outerbanks Island.

"Carasiveen "

The Outer Banks (OBX) is the place to be for some beach, sand, sun, or just some R & R. One of the best spots for a long family vacation. There are a plethora of vacation rental homes to choose from and very affordable for every family. The house that we rented was right on the ocean front and was fully stocked with kitchen supplies, games, movies, television/dvd/vcr, outdoor toys, beach chairs, and many more. There are plenty of shopping and outdoor activities for all ages.
Our family stayed there for a week and we didn't have enough.....we wanted to stay longer.
