More than just your average orchard, the one-hundred-year-old Orchard at Altapass, just south of Linville Falls, is a tribute to Appalachian culture and history. Built by the Clinchfield Railroad in some of the most beautiful country the state has to offer, the orchard has become a significant attraction for the area.
In addition to mountaingrown apples and apple products, the orchard offers regular helpings of authentic mountain music each Saturday and Sunday from mid-May through October.
Harvest time begins around July 4 when you can pick your own, or take home a pre-picked bag of apples. Visitors are also invited for hayrides while listening to the stories that have shaped our area for centuries.
