"Fun for little kids"

The little kids enjoyed the songs and animation of this ride much more than the older kids did. The kids in our group, ages 9 and above found it boring and slow, although I'm sure that they thought it was cute with good songs in some corner of their brains. Part of their dislike is that they have not seen "The Little Mermaid" so there wasn't even nostalgia to entice them.

I enjoyed the ride with my little ones, mostly because it gave me a place to sit down for more than 1 minute. I was aprehensive that the Ursula scenes might be played up like the evil characters are in Fantasyland but I was pleasantly surprised. Just one room with her singing and looking into a "crystal ball" was it.   A cute ride, but mostly for little kids.

"My little Mermaid was Thrilled!"

A must for any Little Mermaid fan.  This is a calm easy ride for children.  It is basically a ride through the movie with all the songs and  characters we know and love.  This is very much a long the lines of Peter Pan.  No scary loud noises, just happy songs that most children are already familiar with.  No jarring movements, just a peaceful ride in a clam shell.  My daughter was so mesmerized by this ride.  This is for mostly younger children.  I feel older children might find it a little slow or lacking an excitement factor.

"Little Mermaid lovers will be thrilled with this new ride!"

The Little Mermaid ride is definitely going to be my four year old daughter's new favorite. As someone who grew up watching the movie and can recite it word for word, it was amazing to finally see the movie come to life as a classic Disney ride.

Riders board a continuously moving clamshell (which is similar to the Haunted House buggies in design and sits 2 adults or an adult and 2 small children) and are greeted by Scuttle the seagull who let's guests know they are about to take a journey under the sea. Disney magic helps you imagine that your clam is going down into the depths. Be sure to look above you to catch a glimpse of Ariel (one of my favorite parts of the ride).

Classic songs and scenes from the movie, including Under the Sea, Ursula conjuring up the "winds of the Caspian Sea", and Ariel singing as she gives her voice to the sea witch are featured, as well the iconic Kiss the Girl Scene and Ariel's wedding.  The animation of the the characters is incredible and above and beyond what Disney has done in prior rides.

The ride is slow paced and appropriate for all ages. It is reminiscent of the classic rides in Fantasyland.  I feel it will appeal most to children under 8 and adults who are looking for nostalgia.

Disclosure: I attended the media preview of the Little Mermaid ride as a guest of Disney in order to cover their new summer rides and shows. They did not request any specific opinions be expressed and all opinions will always be honest thoughts.

"A colorful trip into Ariel's world"

The brand new ride at California Adventure opened today and we had the opportunity to be one of the first to go on the ride.  If you have a Little Mermaid fan in the family, you won't want to miss this attraction.  As you climb into your own clam shell, you'll feel like you're descending into the vivid and colorful world we have all come to love in Disney's Little Mermaid animated feature.

This is a ride that's more about the animation of playful characters and beloved songs, not about thrills.  Think it's a small world, Peter Pan, and Monster's Inc.  It's perfect even for little babies.  Older kids may not enjoy the ride as much unless they were huge Little Mermaid fans when growing up.  Adults, will definitely appreciate the artistry of the scenes and animation.  This is a good ride to head to when everyone needs a bit of a break and a mellow moment during a day at California Adventure.

* I experienced this ride as part of a Disneyland media event and receive complimentary tickets to the park, but was not required to express at particular opinion.  These opinions are entirely my own.
