We really enjoyed this place! Our kids were only about 3 and 5 when we visited, and they loved it. The one room school house was full of old fashioned toys, and they loved ringing the school bell out front. Riding in the horse drawn carriage from the visitor's center out to the "town" was also a highlight. There were dressed up characters there to bring the little town to life, and it is positioned right along the river, which makes for great scenery. I would definitely recommend visiting Murphy's Landing!
At The Landing, you can visit an 1850's cabin, and then move on to the more modern 1880's townsite. Costumed interpreters are on hand on weekends to bring the town to life. Our kids especially like the blacksmith. There's a special building just for kids to play in, and you can walk to the shore of the Minnesota River if you like. Horsedrawn wagons will take you from the visitor center to the town site, or you can walk along the path if you like.
