My husband and I went here with our 2-year-old son, a friend, and her 2 kids (almost 2 and 8 months). It is a great place for kids of many ages. Our boys had a great time playing, though there were things that were too advanced for them to do that older kids would enjoy. There are different themed areas...grocery store, hospital, post office, pizza place, farm, air, and racing. I can see how older kids would enjoy pretend play (making a pizza, eating it, etc) that my son was too young for. Great for kids of all ages!
The Iowa Children's Museum is wonderfully set up to entertain and teach kids from preschool on up. They have created a wonderful little world inside where children can imagine and role play, including a hospital, news station, supermarket, and many more. They have an art room and do many great crafts. There is a farm play room, geared more towards toddle/preschool aged children. I wouldn't recommend bringing infants, as there isn't a whole lot they would take from their experiences, but it is a wonderful place for older children. If you live close by, I'd totally recommend a membership!
Great fun for kids of all ages! The Children’s Museum has different rooms that are geared towards children of different ages. Not only does this ensure that your kid will be able to find something appropriate for his or her interest level, it means that your little ones won’t be trampled over by bigger kids, because for the most part, they don’t choose to play in the same rooms. Our favorite room is the “ball room” – just tons and tons of balls of different sizes that the kids can toss and kick and play with to their hearts content! We also really enjoy the play grocery store – it’s perfect for toddlers through preschool age and has the added benefit of teaching kids about food and money! Overall, this is a great place to bring your kids on a rainy afternoon!
My parents and I took my two boys to the museum last week and had so much fun. We love to do crafts and there is a whole room with unlimited crafts. We could have spent all day just in that one room! So much to do- my boys could have spent a whole day in each of the rooms! We would definately buy a membership if we lived closer!
This museum is located at the mall in Coral Ridge, Iowa and is a very fun destination to take your children. It is reciprocity with tons of children's museums and has a lot of fun activities on its two levels, including a ball room, a store, a doctor and dentist's office, a pizza parlor, arts and crafts room, and a theater. You'll love and so will your kids!
The only reason this place is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is kind of pricey to visit just once. The annual passes are affordable, but if you are in town for just one day, it's $7 per visitor over the age of 1- adults and children alike.
The museum itself is so much fun with activities for all ages- a "hospital", grocery store, pizza parlor and others are among the best exhibits. There is also a room for smaller children so that they are not ran over on a crowded day.
This is a good museum for a wider range of children than a lot of children's musuems. The younger children can enjoy the mock farm, grocery store and pizza parlor. While the older kids can play in the tv station and art center. The musuem is in a mall, there is an ice rink, movie theatre and food court right outside the door, but at the other end of the mall is a nice, free children's play area.
This one's on our list to return to; it was excellent when our kids were very young, with lots of hands-on activities. Favorites were the grocery store and mock farm. It's located inside the Coral Ridge Mall, and just outside the door is a food court and ice-skating rink.
