This is a non-profit, horse rescue facility that opens their barn doors to many other creatures.
The stories of horse neglect and abuse here are heartbreaking: missing eyes or an ear, wearing a leg brace, saved from slaughter while pregnant. Yet, the work put in by all the volunteers is truly inspiring.
The HFFFRI also runs a Therapeutic Riding Program. Some of the horses they save now help improve the lives of people.
Volunteers are welcomed but must attend an orientation/training before beginning any duties.
They do birthday parties and field trips as well.
Make an appointment to visit or attend one of the events listed on their website. The pictures for this review came from their Hay Day 2010.
