The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is the most breathtaking sight in Yellowstone Park - 4,000 feet wide and 1,200 feet deep in places.
I was skeptical at first, boy oh boy was I wrong this is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been to in my life. The children were also in heaven. Just being able to walk down and get to see everything up close and personal was awesome. The kids even asked me mom is this what heaven is like? How much more real can you get this is a fantastic experience for anyone and there family. So if you get the chance please stop in and see this little piece of heaven.
We saw the Grand Canyon from two different viewpoints and quickly realized why Yellowstone is named such. If you head to Yellowstone and have the time, I would make this one of the stops. It was very busy while we were there, but everyone there was polite and recognized that each person wanted their photo opportunity :)
If everyone is able, do take the trek down to see the Lower Falls up close and experience its power. You can do so from both the North Rim Drive and South Rim Drive. The colors are especially beautiful from Painter's Point as the sun is setting, so timing it for that. All my kids (5-11 years old) took pictures. I guess the falls get their vote, since they had limited shots with their disposable cameras.
The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone was so much more beautiful than I was expecting. We all know about "the" Grand Canyon and I figured this would just be mediocre by comparison. WRONG! The canyon looked more like an artists painting, too incredible to be real. There are two large waterfalls within the canyon (Upper and Lower Yellowstone Falls) and you can hike down to the top of the Lower Falls for an incredible view oof the water rushng over the edge and Upper Falls in the Distance. Artists Point is a great place to view both falls. I think this are of Yellowstone should be visited by everyone who is traveling to Yellowstone. It is breathtaking.
