The Andy Warhol Museum is a place for diverse audiences of artists, scholars and the general public where visitors experience creative interaction with the art and life of Andy Warhol.
I really liked this mueseum plus there was a great exhibit while we were there. Very enjoyable. Not too big, not too small. I hadn't really seen Warhol work aside from the very popular works, like the campbell soup piece. Very interesting, very beatnik. Loved the vibe of the place and would go back.
Great place to visit, even for a layperson, 'unarty' person as myself.
My husband and I visied the Warhol Museum for a few hours prior to going to a Pirates baseball game. The museum favored much better than the Pirates (but I guess that doesn't take much). The Warhol is definately a love it or hate it kind of place. If it is not your kind of art, you probably would not like to visit the museum.
Artist and pop icon Andy Warhol was born in Pittsburgh. Celebrating its tenth anniversary year in 2005, the Andy Warhol Museum is the most comprehensive single-artist museum in the United States. Housed in a funky historic industrial warehouse are 3,000 original works of art, including paintings, drawings, prints, films, and a lot more. Public parking lots with attendants are located under the North Shore Expressway, 1 block north of the museum off Sandusky Street. There is additional parking across the street from the museum.
At the Warhol museum children are especially drawn to the Silver Clouds gallery on the fifth floor, where silver, pillow-shaped balloons float around you. Hands-on activities are offered in the Weekend Factory on Saturday and Sunday noon to 4:00 P.M.
Yea, you need to come here since it's kindof iconic, but really there's not a ton for the kiddies to do. There is the famous balloon room, but to be honest it's a favorite for college students to trip, lol. I think it would probably be very interesting for older kids. We took our son here when he was a toddler, but there wasn't much for him to do...he did like the balloon room, though!
