March open only on the weekends from 10am-4pm.
House tours with costumed guides cost $12 for adults, and $6 for kids ages 5-17. Children under 5 free.
From time to time special programs are presented designed especially for children-From a Child's Perspective takes place in August. Routinely available is the Washington Irving's Traveling Tote Bag, with a collection of activities for children and families to do together during a visit to Sunnyside.
Perhaps the most magical of the Hudson River Estates, Sunnyside was home to Washington Irving, author of Rip Van Winkle. Costumed guides offer tours of the charming cottage and grounds, colonial crafts and skills are demonstrated daily, and autumn harvest celebrations culminate with dramatic readings of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
