I am nowhere near being an experienced skier; however, I have been to Sugar Mountain a couple of times and have definitely enjoyed myself. The first time I ever skied as a child was at Sugar, and I took advantage of the beginners ski class. It taught me the basics and enabled me to go on some of the smaller slopes. I haven't been brave enough to make it to the top of the mountain, but even the shorter slopes are a lot of fun. The staff is helpful and tries to keep skiers safe by reprimanding unsafe and excessively-speedy skiers. The staff at the chairlifts are also very helpful with children! During my first experience as a kid, my skis somehow crossed over my cousin's in the lift and we ended up falling down when getting off the lift. The men working at the lift ran over to us, picked us up, and shoved us down the mountain!
Sugar Mountain offers something for everyone! There's an outdoor ice rink, tubing, and of course skiing and snowboarding. My little one is too young to ski or tube, but they have a nice childcare facility that she will be visiting this season. They do have a special where kids 4 & under ski free (not including equipment) with a paying adult. They also have lessons available for any ages. I am an inexperienced skier so I appreciate Sugar Mountain for the long slowly winding easy slopes as well as the fun intermediate slopes that I'm willing to try. There's also a terrain park for snowboarders and some more difficult slopes that my husband enjoys. When she's old enough we'll sign our daughter up for their Sugar Bear school.
They always have specials and events going on. We've also been there for their Oktoberfest. Lots of local vendors, yummy food, and beautiful scenery.
