"Fun with the Family"

This house looks much as it did when General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson coordinated his valley campaign here from November 1861 to March 1862. On display are maps, memorabilia, photos, and artifacts of Jackson and other Civil War soldiers, including the table Jackson used as a desk and his prayer table, which was taken into the field with him. A small shop sells coloring books, Confederate hats, and children’s books about the Civil War. Fans of classic television shows might be interested to know that this building was originally owned by Colonel Lewis T. Moore, great grandfather of actress Mary Tyler Moore; the colonel invited Jackson to use it while he was headquartered in Winchester.
